Under Outgoing Server tick [...]]]> Noticed this while I was trying to setup my Gmail IMAP account the other day, if you cannot send out email but can receive it fine try the following fix:

1. Open Outlook
2. Go to Tools > Account Settings
3. Under the Email tab click ‘Change” on your gmail account
4. Click “More Settings”
5. Under Outgoing Server tick “My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication”
6. Select the Log on Using radio button
7. Type in your full Gmail Username and Password
Sending Mail using Gmail's IMAP in Outlook 2007
8. Tick Remember password
9. Click OK
10. Click Next
11. Click Finish
